You can say a lot of bad things about Dell by Control2005-09-12 01:42:48

"complete Id10t"...but was close. If it did not fall into the normal errors he had no clue. He actually asked me how to set the jumpers on the CDRW and DVD-RW-RAM because he had never had to change a Master-Slave setting on CD type drives...(cries)

The other three were from various contract repair companies out of Dallas or Austin. Needless to say, when I called Dell after that for tech support there was a note on my account that I had them read before we went any further. It explicitly stated that I was to get an experienced repair person or the tech would be sent back to whence he came post haste...I actually did it once when the "tech" told me that the cut wire on the 80pin IDE cable...That he cut by closing the case on it I might add...would not cause any problems with the drives...I reached over and pulled the power plug on the box before he could power it up and told him to pack up and leave. Never had a problem after that for some reason...and I always got a server repair tech to repair the desktops for some reason too....I wonder why ;-)

P.S.
That particular box went through three MOBO's, 2 HDD's, three IDE cables, a floppy cable, a processor and RAM before it got repaired correctly. All because they would not test the processor Cache and would not believe my 400.00 test program was correct, even when I showed it to them...
