Dear People of Earth: by LionsPhil2005-09-12 02:24:43
  I hear you... by shadowsystems 2005-09-12 11:40:27
Someone parked a vehicle out in front of my HOUSE and abandoned it.
Granted, it was "legally" parked (proper distance from the curb, not blocking my driveway, not in front of the hydrant, et cetera) but it had no license plates - just a pink & white Department of Motor Vehicles temporary sticker in the window, *that had expired over a year prior*.

I didn't think anything of it at first, because my next door neighbor often buys cheapie cars to fix up & resell, but after it had sat there for 2 weeks, I knocked to ask when he might get to moving it.

He thought it was mine.

My across the street neighbors didn't know whom it might belong to, and that left me at a loss...

Long story short, it took FOUR MONTHS of calling the county services office before they finally towed the POS, and ONLY because I threatened to break into it, push it into the middle of the intersection (I live near the end of a "T" intersection), break off the shift levre, set the parking break, and SET IT ON FIRE...

It had a bright orange "It's gonna be towed" sticker on it the next morning, and was gone 24 hours later...

(Evil giggle)

Now, if a car sits out there for more than two days, I start knocking on doors...

I'm waiting with a bag of marshmallows and a set of pointy sticks... (Giggle)
