The changes to bankruptcy laws are a hairy debate in themselves. Maybe I'll post something later on them. But there ARE means-tests to the new laws- leniency is built in if you have below-average earnings. If we delay implementation of the "reforms," then we may just see a permanent postponement as any other misfortune to another region hits. It's terrible timing but we've known about the bankruptcy changes for a while now.

You'll still be able to file Chapter 13 regardless- where you end up paying at least part of your bills rather than wiping everything out.
