Hm I think often they are but as usual I would not count on it. Anyway types are not the only source of possible naming-conflicts. Try to make a Table called Join, Order, Union or something. OK, it is not often that those conflicts occur but better safe than sorry. The thing is especially DBMS' have often a huge pile of reserved words and terms and imho you can not be careful enough with it. I even saw DBs where every name had an identifier of its kind before the name, like tbl_<tablename> for tables, vw_<viewname, prz_procedure. The other way to almost certainly avoid conflicts is to add a project-specific tag before any name. Like for a project called "userfriendly" a table would be called UF_<tablename>
