Question for the image/ghosting litterate... by sloth_guy2005-09-12 00:46:01
Hardware will be your biggest headache. by manxmania 2005-09-12 02:03:20
The guys summed it up quite well - doable for Win98 if you remove most of the hardware - or use basic drivers (replace your ATI Rage driver with Standard VGA Graphics controller, physically remove internal modems, and any add-on cards you can do without.) At reboot on the new box it should sort itself out - if you can find Win98 drivers for it !

W2K is another animal - esp. on different platforms (PIII/P4). BSOD is probably gonna happen. Often. I've never got it right (0/3). It seems during starup, when the devices are being enumerated, and the device is not found or the wrong device is in a particular slot (according to the registry anyway), the system BSOD's. Mostly hardware address type errors.

I suggest you tell the PHB (pointy-haired-boss) you want a full indemnity contract if you do it his way.
