1. Transactions have been around in MySQL since BDB appeared.
2. Stored-procedures are in MySQL 5.
3. Referential integrity has been around with InnoDB for a while.

Admittedly, stored-procedures are fairly new. And a lot of people didn't use BDB because when it first appeared because InnoDB was close to release. And it's a shame MyISAM is the default engine because that's probably why people see MySQL as not supporting transactions or being ACID compliance.

Clearly MySQL is not your database of choice. But do you have any recent experience with it? I do. I currently don't have a choice as to what we use for a database, but MySQL is fast and reliable and has the features we require at the moment and for the foreseeable future.
