PostgreSQL vs MySQL by notdeadyet2005-09-11 13:54:25

How so? by Myke 2005-09-11 17:43:53
Transactions?
Stored-procedures?
Relations? (PK/FK)

I mean - c'mon - these are the basics of an *R*DBMS.

Oh wait, one DB flavour has 'em, the other one actually has good performance. Nevermind these are recent developments and nothing I'd run an enterprise off of.

At least Postgres has had that stuff long enough to compete with The Big DBs.

(FYI: I'm Oracle certified... My development toolbox basically contains flat-files, Postgres and RRDtool. Haven't had any call for anything else.)

So why pick a popular but immature and featureless DBMS as opposed to a REAL RDBMs that's easier to deploy and learn and more comparable to a commercial product? (Should one ever need to upgrade their skills.)
