in these discussions?
Hyperbole. Snarkyness. Smug arrogance. The threads down there are dripping with it, and it's blatently just winding up both sides.
If you can't stick to facts; rational assumptions; and demonstratable, logical reasoning based upon them, you do yourself no favours when presenting your point. If you start with an insinuation that anyone who disagrees is i) evil ii) stupid or iii) naïve, you are starting your post by putting your opponent's "mental shields" up, and this is clearly counterproductive to getting them to see your side of the argument. If you're doing this on purpose, then you are no longer having a rational argument—you are just trying to publically mock, discredit or belittle your adversary under the illusion of discussion, and that is a form of harassment that has no place here.
