MySQL is severely deficient in a lot of areas too.
It's harder to setup. It's SQL is less like any other.

Postgres is very feature complete, easy to setup, easy to use. I'm not really sure why it's less popular, but if anyone tells you it's slower than MySQL, tell them the 90s are over.

There's more reasons... but do you really want to use MySQL... the company is now in bed with SCO?
