Just because the article omitted facts that are indeed important does not mean the points it brought up are invalid.

Yes, the local government F4'd up big time. Sounds like the state government did as well. I don't see anybody here arguing against that, actually, and KS mentioned both in his post.

Does that somehow lessen the rather large number of points in that article where FEMA and the rest of the federal government failed to live up to their obligations? I really don't see how it does.

The problem here as I see it is that I hear a whole lot of "because the local and state government screwed up first, none of it is really our fault" from the White House and the Bush administration supporters. That and "let's not play the blame game," which is kind of ironic given the first statement.

I don't hear anybody here saying we should let the NO or LA governments off the hook. Only that people shouldn't get away scot free at the federal level either. Why is that a bad thing, exactly?
