I'd say "you started it!" but that'd be kinda childish.
oops, too late.
anyway, here's the point: every time the US wants to do something that the left considers "wrong", millions of people go out and protest, everyone raises a giant fuss, and it ends up getting done anyway because despite all the protests, it needs to be done.
Meanwhile, these same people turn a blind eye to daily human right violations around the world. To dictatorships which opress their own people and try to invade other states.
So, what's the deal? You don't protest against people who do things that are worse than what we're doing? What the heck? You may as well say there's no point in trying, convicting, or jailing a criminal as long as "we know he's bad".
What I'm saying is that the left has a habit of protesting against, and picking on, whomever strikes their fancy, and then when worse examples of the same thing are pointed out from other individuals, you justify it by saying "we already knew about that". Well, if you know it, WHY AREN'T YOU SAYING ANYTHING?? In THIS case, why are you picking on the Federal government? On Geaorge Bush in particular? If you KNOW that the screwup at the local and state level was just as bad (much worse IMO), then why are you focusing on Bush? Ditto in Iraq, you KNOW that the insurgents are killing more civilians than coalition troops are, and that they're doing it on purpose, yet you ignore that and instead count how many civilians have been killed by our forces.
The only conclusion I can come up with is that either you DON'T know, or that you don't CARE. In the case of Katrina, you don't CARE who's realy responsible, you want to blame it on Bush, and you're going to do it no matter what. Placing some blame on local and state officials would be counterprodutive for you.
At least, that's the way I see it. |
