| The Federal government often kowtows to the U.S., particularly on military matters. What can we do? We're vastly outclassed, and we do rely on the U.S. for protection -- not that we have many enemies in the world. The same goes for a lot of social issues, but the compromises made there are incremental ones. We're clearly far more socially progressive than what the conservatives in the U.S. are comfortable with.
The Provincial governments are a different matter. B.C.'s current government, for example, is very pro-business but has a burning disgust for the Bush administration. B.C.'s Premiere is too savvy to openly disrespect Bush, but it's clear his opinion of your president isn't terribly high.
So it's mix and match. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. |
