...left-leaning to most American viewers. They're centrist to me.

Having said that, the CBC has some journalists with truly excellent reputations with regard to integrity. Bob McKeown is one such. Given his track record, anyone who thinks his reporting is deeply biased in either direction is probably feeling the sting of his investigations.
