Roy didn't originate that article.
I first saw it about two years ago, when the whole "Metro-sexual" fad was in full swing. It appeared in a longer version on the web-site for (my favorite) radio station in San Diego, CA: KGB 101.5.
(Don't be fooled by the name, it's a top rated classic rock station, they've had the call letters since the late sixties.)
At the time it was titled "The Retro-Sexual Male", a rebuttal to the 'wimping down of the American Male'.
I first heard it as an on-air monologue on the KGB's morning show. They got such great response, that they posted the text on the site. I don't know if Dave originated the bit or got it elsewhere, and , unfortunately, it's no longer on KGB's site.
And, now for the plug. KGB is my favorite station not only for the music they play, but for their morning show, "Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw." Dave Rickerts, Shelly Dunn and Cookie 'Chainsaw' Randolph (the Dean of American Sportscasters) are, funny, irreverant, MATURE, as in the opposite of juvenile, and have great chemistry. Their show is the top rated in it's slot, and has been for most of it's 17 year run!
Oh, and it's streamed on the web. I can't link to the site for FYOSS reasons, but if you were to follow 'www.' with their frequency then call letters, you would find them at a COMmercial web address. |
