Forty years ago many people believed that we needed to win Vietnam and that if we didn't all or Southeast Asia would collapse. Guess what, it didn't and over 50,000 US troops died. I think Peace_Man is just hoping this doesn't happen again. It is worth noting that Robert McNamara has talked about the issues of fighting a war when you don't understand your enemy and has hinted (at least) that this is what is happenning in Iraq.
