It's fairly common, too:-( I have always believed in the maxim: A bad business process cannot be improved by computerization. What happens often enough is that a computer program that has been successful elsewhere is brought in, and will constrain the business process in such a way as to improve it. About half the time. The other half the business process is so constrained by other departments' faulty business processes that things get worse.
