So much for freedom of speech by Kickstart2006-11-19 12:55:59
I would say the underlying question here is by classic_jon 2005-08-16 09:37:48
what will she accomplish by talking to Bush again about her son being killed? She has already talked to him once, what more is there to say? Seriously??

There is also the precident set if he talked to her. If he does talk to her then the next greiving mother / father /family will want to talk to him alone, and then you go into domino theory from there with everyone wanting to talk directly to the president about their random problems. This is what congressman are there for, to represent you to the government. Even her friends and family think she is carrying this too far and allowing her grief to run away with her.

I have been to crawford and the Rural Routes near the Bush ranch are not all that wide and they slope immidiately off into a ditch. Even if they stay off the road they are still going to spill over no matter what they do and pose a driving problem. The response to the horn is understandable but, the horn could have been used to make sure that no one stepped out of their tent into the roadway OR to get someone to move off the road who was being stupid. Having been at the TSTC airport when Bush came in ...the Secret service does not play...at all and I would doubt that they would allow the motorcade to be stopped by the protesters, or even slowed down, to protect both the president AND to keep the people in the camp from having a chance to do something stupid like throw themselves in front of the motorcade to "force a discussion."

I think incredible restraint is being shown by the Secret service and other law enforcement officials by allowing her to remain on the side of the road and not shuffle her off to a lot somewhere or to take her to jail for whatever laws I am sure she is breaking by living on the side of the road. Having known the Mclennan County Sherrif for some time both by reputation and meeting him I am sure that a request was made for him to not move her to a jail cell or to write her a ticket for something.
