The crosses were symbolic, and not actually marking a grave, and did not appear to be of significant religious value to whomever threw them up to make a statement. So I can't get that worked up over knocking them down. It was crude, but but so was putting them up in the first place. (Statement made by an agnostic. Perhaps the average Christian feels differently.)

I am sure the SS could wanted to make sure no one was in the road ;)

I hope the last comment is just a local talking out his rear. But I could see a lot of potential for making life unpleasent for the campers. Given the extra publicity and perhaps local spending, they might want to stretch this mess out.
