Because we still have some pride left and haven't knuckled under to the Quebecois seperatists. On the other hand, there's a number of Westerners who envy the seperatists and wish that BC had as much power in the halls of gov't so that we too could hold the rest of the country hostage.

I for one am not for seperatism - I find the thought repugnant.
I am however, one for legislative and paliamentary reform. Any constitutional system which grants one province (any province) the right to veto any proposed changes is unworkable, unethical and unfair.
I am for parliamentary reform that has a true system of representation in all levels of gov't. I am for a truly functional senate - not one which is a life-long reward for loyalty to one's gov't.
I don't appreciate not being able to elect my Premiere and Prime Minister. I don't appreciate the fact that my Prime Minister tells the MPs how to vote. MPs are supposed to represent the people who elected them - not represent the party they belong to. I want to elect our judges - specially those nine narrow-minded, politically appointed nimnuls that make up the Supreme Court.
I don't appreciate the way that Central Canada treats the far Eastern and Western provinces. Yes, we joined Canada later than the rest, but it doesn't make us any the more inferior.
I'd like to see a Canadian parliamentary system that borrows from the best of the British and Australian systems and also from the Republican system of representation used in the US.
What we have now doesn't work. What's worse is that our constitution is written in such a way that we can't change anything because any central Canadian province that doesn't like a clause can veto the whole thing. It's happened before, it'll happen again.
Do I know what to do, what to change? No, I don't that much. I do know that there are better minds than mine out there who do know what to do. Unfortunately, those minds are also smart enough to know that anything they try to fix will be voted down.
