You think only silicon chip devices have problems by chrisbee 2005-08-14 18:11:41
I've got a couple of pump stations where I get pump fault alarms and reservoir level alarms tripped and sometimes when there is no lightning around and it's a 20 or 40 km drive to reset them.

The only silicon chips on the sites are in the radio based telemetry units which always keep working.

The pump fault hold in relays (240V magnetic coil relays) get tripped on pumps (running or not running or even not installed) and the reservoir level alarms (used to be over a phone line and now disused) also trip. Usually all 4 get tripped together.

I've cut the phone lines off inside the cabinet, installed 3 ph surge diverters and filters on the incoming power and the control circuits have another surge surpressor/diverter as well.

And they still keep tripping at random!!!!!!!!!! Only rarely when there's no atmospherics but once or twice a storm season at least. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr - frustration
