Basicaly to make a 2 by four. you need a tree thats just a bit bigger than a 2 by four. and your going to waste all that wood along the edges. and Hopefully theres enough extra to make a 11 or a 12 out of the wood on the sides. to figure it out you inscribe the size of the lumber you want on the diameter of the tree. The try to optimize the yeild of the particular tree.
