| already. The dressers have for the most part fallen apart (the bottoms pop out of the drawers and the glides lose their ball bearings). And they were the "top of the line" stuff from them, too. My desk is getting wobbly as time goes by.
The china closet has held up nicely, and the nighttables are still usable, but the only really solid stuff is the shelving. At least compared to the "real" scandinavian style furniture I inherited from my mom. That stuff is either solid wood or plywood (depending on what piece of furniture it is), not particle board. Very solid beautiful stuff.
And then there's the stuff from my young childhood and their "salad days" - that furniture will be handed down to my great-grandkids if it doesn't get sold off in the meantime - incredibly solid stuff (solid cherry and maple for instance.). |
