1. Any information, whether from internal or external sources, that discredited the alarmist reports were strictly ignored. Bush wanted a war, and would happily use whatever means he could to get Congress to give it to him.

2. Bush is the leader of the most powerful country in the world today. That puts him in a position where he is not judged by the same standards as others. The standards for him must be stricter, because he has so much more power - for good or for evil.

Or do you think that anybody could be excused because "others have done worse"?
