charter. The charter was written very specifically to NOT give the U.N. the ability to become a instant world government. It was designed to provide a place that countries could talk about things without having to go to war. The other main thing it was formed for was to prevent something like the horrers of WWII concentration camps. To do what you are talking about would go against everything the U.N. was formed on.
Your placement of blame on the U.S is groundless in this case. You might as well blame it on the U.S.S.R., England, France and any other country involved with the formation of the U.N..
On your second statement, any country that wants to go to the U.N. and make a claim against the U.S. is more than welcome to do so and if it is seen to have merit the U.N. can impose santions on the U.S. You seem to leave out the fact in many of your arguments that the same rules apply to ALL members of the U.N. If the U.N. were so ticked at the U.S. right now and thought they were doing something so bad then they would impose sanctions. Have they, no, will they? I doubt it. Is it possible? Yes. If the world wanted the U.N. to stop the U.S. they could very easily with sanctions and by not allowing the U.S. soldiers on their soil. Very simple and very effective.
Check out the crime statistics per capita in any industrialized nation and you will find that as the population rises, so does the crime rate. This is not just a U.S. issue this is worldwide. I also think that some of the appearance of a greater crime rate in the U.S. is because the statistics are widely available and are tracked with much more dilligence than say...$random_little_country.
That being said, violence is a problem, I will agree but please stop saying or intimating that it is totally the United States/GW Bush's fault...there are way to many worldwide players for this to be true. If the world really wanted peace and would pursue it through, and MAKE the the U.N. do what their charter is then it would be over with and done, with or without the U.S.' involvment. |
