Help Request: Serial Port "Network" Connection by jayfarm 2005-08-09 12:52:52
So setup: 2 computers with a serial connection between them. The code that has the data to be transferred is in C. I would like to have some sort of sample code that allows binary transfer to occur via an object or method.

Background: This is part of a larger project where the serial connection will become a 2-way radio link, so this will be a necessary part. We have the radios and they link up with each other correctly (as per hyperterminal anyway).

The system uses a tiered connection where it will first use wired ethernet, then wireless if wired isn't around, then the radio(serial) link when wireless fails. The first 2 parts of this is working, and since all you have to do is create the proper sockets and then you can shove data into it and away it goes. This doesn't happen to be the case with serial, so I'm looking for a package / object / method / sample code / anything useful that will assist or has already implemented a similar setup.

As usual, when all else fails I turn to UFies and thus far have yet to be left high and dry. Please don't fail me now!

  Is your serial connection a null-modem? by ChuckAB2006-11-19 12:55:59
Yeah, hardware wise it's okay by jayfarm2005-08-09 14:52:22
