1. My car frequently idles around 10MPH. I haven't a clue.
2. Uh, no. If I'm going < 25MPH, I spend most of the time covering and/or riding the brake.
3. I'm in Tampa. Show me a country road. I dare ya'.
4. I spend half my life on I-75 or I-4. Frequently around 77MPH, for as much as 1.5 hours if I'm on the road late enough for it to be clear.
5. Rather higher, but well below 90.
6. If I'm going that fast, I just use it in the gaps between cars, and go back to manual--er, pedal. So a few minutes at a time.
On the Gainesville <-> Tampa leg, I'm frequently passed by students who are plainly doing over 100MPH. One morning it was a couple idiots street racing in Civics, never mind the heavy traffic and large number of 18-wheelers. Then there are the 90+ MPH trains of 5 or so cars who've decided there's safety from speeding tickets in numbers.
So yeah, I'll take the ticket when I get pulled over. But I never weave, I use a signal, and I back off when there's traffic. I even gesture thanks when someone lets me by. As opposed to the rather different gestures I've received when I took more than 3 seconds to get out of somebody else's way. My cars' optimum cruising speed for fuel consumption is over 70MPH, so I really don't feel like I'm doing harm. |
