not doing anything to make things worse - which includes flashing the brake lights. Just keep up to the speed as the rest of the traffic (up to the speed limit) and watch as far ahead for problems as you can.

It's not comfortable - more space would be nice, but if you're moving and immediate scratching and denting is not apparent, then keep your wheels on the road, your eyes ahead, and stay aware of what's around you and continue to plan for your next escape route (which you should be doing all the time anyway).

Besides, I've noticed that construction isn't always on the right side. I've been in areas where there are Jersey barriers on BOTH shoulders restricting you to 2 lanes in one direction - or even worse, one lane in each direction - just wide enough for the current traffic. That's fun --- NOT!

Ah, yes. Chicago traffic. I'm glad I'm about 300 miles from there.
