inside your car for emergancies, they usually have seatbelt cutters too! A very useful peice of kit but keep it where you can reach it. Failing that, anything will smash a car window, the side windows have almost no impact protection, you could put your fist through if needed but a brick/metal bar anything like that is your best bet. As for where the critter is, get one person to attract it's attention and another to smash a window on the opposite side. Just make sure it doesn't walk over the glass as it will cut if you put pressure on it.
