to make the adapter that will very likely be required. Besides, the engine is a Fiat engine, parts are available, including a whole drop-in replacement. Money, however, is not available at the moment.
If I manage to get a professorship, then cash becomes less an issue as the lowest-paid teacher here makes a good 5 grand more than I do now in the state civil service segment.
It would be a good idea, though, if there weren't conversion issues to deal with. The transaxle mounts are undoubtedly different, too, so swapping the entire front end wouldn't likely be any easier.
I have seen a Geo Metro front axle used as the hub for a wind generator, though. Long bolts to replace the wheel lugs, and a three-blade prop (no feathering, would be nice but not easy to do) bolted on. Also seen this done with a Volvo front axle, too.
