Anyone use remington "golden bullet" .22 rounds? by jayfarm 2005-08-04 16:39:30
I bought a box when walmart was getting out of gun / ammo sales (no idea why...) and just went to the range for half an hour to try out some of them.

Pros:
- They seem to have alot more kick behind them than the federals I usually use

Cons:
- LOTS of power burns on my arms
- Golden color leaves sparkles on my hands
- Terrible reliability (1 in 15 dud ratio)
- 2 Failure to feeds

Now they are the .22 golden bullet pack (from the box) High Velocity, 36 Grain, Hollow Point.

Since I don't have access to a chrono or a powder scale at my apartment I'm just guessing that they have more punch than the federal rounds, but it was noticable to me.

Anyone else have issues/comments/experiences? If the reliability that I have experienced so far is any example I won't buy another box. I probably have about 2 duds in a box of 550 when using the federals, and I don't get even an eighth of the powder burns on my arms that I did this time out.

PS: I use remington UMC in other calibers (.40 and 9mm) without a problem. They shoot straight and great!
