          They run the allergy tests on your blood and not by classic_jon 2005-08-04 15:28:50
by poking you with needles 400 times and deal with the scratching/itching. With the blood test it is ONE needle poke and 2 to 4 vials of blood depending on how many tests they need to run. Many allergists do not have the equipment to run the blood tests because of the equipment cost. The blood tests also test for things that may not cause an allergy on the skin but may cause an allergy if they get into your body by other means...

I was one of the youngest children tested in the U.S. in the 70's. My mother is one of the top 10 Environmental allergics in the world...no joke... She was in the environmental unit in Dallas for over a year being tested and detoxed for the prednisone steroids she had been taking for 10 years to combat her allergies. (She started taking them before they knew that steroids were bad.) She still has to take 4 to 5 antigen shots a day just to eat.
