After thinking it over some more the "Mount the directories on a Linux box and do it from there" had much more appeal. Absolutely no installation of any sort of tools on the Windows boxen neccessary One central place where you can set up a cron job to do it Much better possibilities to log it away and generate warning messages when something goes wrong. So I'm now pretty happy the problem came up and prevented the other method. ;-)
