Good and evil by DevinUll 2005-08-04 09:42:18
I would say that good and evil are very much relative to contect. A good example is Quakers. To them technology is evil. To the rest of us technology is a tool. There are no defined boundaries of what is good and what is evil. Even murder is not accepted as evil in all societies. Good is even harder to pin down. What is good depends largely on the situation. One could easily say that for instance that it is good to obey the speed limit. But what if you are rushing a friend to the hospital? that is where the edges of good are tested. Some would say that it is better to obey the speed limit anyway, while others would say that in an emergency breaking that law is fine. War is another relative for good and evil. Some believe that ALL wars are evil. Some even believe that killing in any event is evil. While others believe that wars of liberation are good, and that killing for a good cause is acceptable.
