Don't underestimate the potential for resiliency in childhood. With his situation being caught and corrected this early, he has a better chance to bounce back. I don't mean to make light of this situation by any means. I'm just hoping for the best for the sake of the child. Hoping that he will bounce back, learn that this was NOT the way things should be, let it go, and move on to great things (like maybe becoming a prominent advocate for helping other unfortunate children?).
