in ALL caps!
Let me try to deconstruct this, then. You asserted that the consensus opinion of society defines the moral standard. And backed it up with the example of the historical practice of slavery. And the observation of different consensus opinions about what is moral in other contemporary societies.
I submit that the truth is not what has changed, or what changes. What changes from century to century, or nation to nation, is the consensus opinion. Opinions, being fluid, may move closer or further away from the truth, insofar as they assert that something is true. By definition, if there is at all an objective truth, which encompasses the true reality of good and evil, it is unchanging.
Moreover... it does not burst my bubble if you assert that I am able to decide what is moral for me. I reply that, in fact, I have no bubble, and do not attempt to choose what is moral.
One does not have to choose. One can follow another process, an attempt at discernment and discovery, through objective logic, at which one aims to get at the truth of whether something is good or evil (this is my operating definition of morality.)
The existence of this process is also a valid proof that public speakers who use intimidation and fear, whether they be preachers or neo-Nazis, are not following a legitimate process towards the truth.
