| All NCO's in the pay grade of E-5 through E-8 (except First Sergeants) are addressed as "Sergeant" regardless of exactly what their rank is. First Sergeants are addressed as First Sergeant, and if they are cool, Top. Sergeant Majors and Command Sergeant Majors are always addressed as "Sergeant Major" In the Artillery, you also have NCOs addressed as "Gunny" and "Smoke" but that is a position rather than a pay grade. In the Marines, you call a Staff Sergeant a Staff Sergeant and a Gunnery Sergeant a Gunnery Sergeant. |
