          As a non-cop... by VivianC 2005-07-24 18:49:34
I think I can speak quite well on the subject. My father was on the job for 34 years. My brother just hit his seventh year on the street. I grew up with cops in my house (besides family) almost every week. I took a ten week police training course that included ride-alongs. I took police firearms training. I worked in physical security for five years.

The cop who killed that man was wrong and it will haunt him the rest of his life. He made a mistake under a very stressful situation that could have been made by anyone in that situation. He followed his training by shooting the fleeing suspect in the head, where the bomb wouldn't be. He will stand before the public and explain his actions in order to keep from going to jail. He will not be able to sleep. He will be kept on suicide watch for weeks or months. He will never forget his mistake.
