I've found that nearly all actors by gregg_hughes 2005-07-24 04:41:47
who have a defining role tend to hate the character unless there's a chance to develop the character further. With the long life that Trek has had the characters have developed into more complex people that the actors can flesh out nearly into separate personalities. And when the character is added to by others, again like Trek, that character takes on a separate, independent existence that the actor can mine and get to know almost like another person.
