that (to the best of my knowledge) there has only ever been ONE case of it in the UK, ever. ONE!
On the other hand, there have been at least two killings where officers mistakenly identified a harmless object as a gun, and other similar cases that have almost resulted in a shooting.
The situation to hand is a new (and disturbing) development, because there was no evidence of a gun, and (as yet) insufficient evidence of a bomb. All the evidence is circumstantial, and our justice system doesn't work that way. |
