has more safety features than your average Volvo, for goodness' sake.
Like, say, the way the automatic live socket covers, longer earth pin (which also ensures its First In, Last Out status), and plastic sheathing at the base of the live pins mean that it's completely impossible to get at exposed, live metal while connecting or disconnecting the thing without a fair bit of damage being applied to either plug or socket. Or even the fact that most sockets over here actually have switches. There's the way that the flex is at a right angle to the pins, which dissuades people from unplugging it by the cord, and helps to keep wiring flush to the surface it is being connected to, reducing trip hazards. And the cable clamp to help prevent such coming loose from the plug.
And these are the features which aren't the aformentioned basics of grounding and fusing. |
