Just wondering, does anyone have the following:
Asus A8N-E motherboard
Sound Blaster Audity 2 ZS (any kind that has firewire on it).
and a firewire-capable camcoder ?
If so, do you have problems with firewire ?
Do the following: make sure you have SB drivers loaded,
open any capturing program, i.e. Premiere/Scenalyzer/other and capture anything for 1-2 min. 3-4 min preferred. Then press Stop. Do you get any errors/crashes ? I keep crashing with MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (MCE) error and reboot. When I unload SB drivers, all is fine. Load them back, MCE.
I tried pretty much everything ... different PCI slots, latest BIOS updates, different BIOS versions, latest drivers updates for chipset/video, different driver versions (CD/manuf.site/chipset site), different RAM configurations, onboard sound always disabled, I even tried enabling it once just to see what happens. Emailed Creative, they suggested to remove CD drivers, put drivers from the web. Did so, same problem remains: SB drivers on: MCE, SB drivers off: okay.
WinXP SP2 on/off, WinXP clean install, doesn't matter. |
