My experience with such things is that you're taking a chance with a small transformer like that. They were designed to operate on 60Hz. They will operate on 50Hz, but will run warmer. How much warmer and how long it will operate at that temperature depends on how much tolerance for heat and cycles was built into it by the manufacturer.
If you have a multimeter, check output voltage to see that it doesn't waver too much. Hopefully, it's a full-wave rectifier. If it's only half-wave, you may have problems.
Random thought: Check local stores for 220V Zire charger? Shouldn't be much more than 10 quid or so....
