Yes they would stop doing it and yes it is a sellers market.

They stand to gain too much money by forcing a 2 year life cycle. Look at M$, they have done it for years until it started to backlash on them. If you look at their current licencing plans it is purely a customer retention device and not really licencing. You are "leaseing" the software for 2 years and it will literally stop working if you don't re-licence it within three months. (someone correct me if I am wrong but that is what it was a year ago when I looked into a Site licence for my old company for win2k, winxp and Win2k server/2k adv server.)
