We purchased some equipment about two years ago which is being end-of-lifed. In this particular case, it means that starting in August, new parts will no longer be available for it. So if we wish to upgrade it, too bad. Replacement parts for what we already have will still be available for five years, but that first part still burns me.
We're looking to upgrade the system now, and add some new equipment as well. So for the new equipment, I'm making the following request:
I would like a statement in writing that the particular products we'll be purchasing will be fully supported for at least five years, and not end-of-lifed. And a clause that if they are end-of-lifed, we will have some recourse for the remainder of that five years to maintain full support without having to incur further expense, even if that recourse necessitates replacing the equipment with an equivalent or similar product for which support will remain available, again without incurring further expense.
