I think that too many people confuse showmanship with ability. They think if someone can make it sound good and look good, that they can do it well. Kind of like The Princess Bride. In the sword fight between "the man in black" and Montoya, the fight looked amazing, and it was easy to believe that there was really something going on there. But it was actually pretty mundane. I've spoken to stage fighters who've watched the fight in slow motion and broke it down, and they say it's extremely average. But the way it was presented makes it seem incredible.
