  Hmmm..ok try this explanation.. by classic_jon 2005-06-17 09:46:37
The best example I can think of about something that causes harm but is good is Chemotherapy. You are trying to kill the cancer faster than the person that has it. (When you get down to it that is what is really happening. That is why people on Chemo get so sick!)

Something that doesent cause harm but is bad...more difficult but here goes. Drive a car that is an 8 cyl that is only running on 4 cyl. It doesent cause harm but sure is slow and munches gas!

Basically, I describe bloatware to people as the worst union shop you could ever imagine where every single piece of the car had to be done by a different person. Every screw, every bolt, nut etc. To get the car built you would have 50 people around it and have to pay all 50 their wage too! Gets expensive quickly!! Then take that same shop and streamline it to where jobs are devided up logically and all of the extra people are removed. This would mean fewer wages to pay and therefore the cost of the car would be lower. At that point all you would need to ask would be "Which one do you think will run faster... and be more cost efficient, the first one with the seperate people for each piece or the streamlined one?"

If he can't get it from there then you need a large LART and give up ;-P
