will not pass you through layer 3. If you are not, the switch should pass you through layer 2 to the most direct route to the default gateway (one of the core switches) and the core switch will then do the ARP thing and pass you through the most direct layer 2 route to your destination.

At least, that is what should happen. MPLS may mess things up in this scenario, but OSPF won't.
