not causing harm is arguably not possible. every action has consequences. i.e. i go to work (which is good) but i can't work on any hobbies while here.

on computers, related to your question:

i multitask like a mad man. typically 6 active apps open, several of which are processor and memory intensive. on one of my home boxes i cant do that because it doesnt' have the ram to support it and i'm not shucking out $$ for rambus ram (dell, "no it's not rambus, and yes it has 1G of ram." it has 256M of rambus....) i can't use msword while using some modeling software because word will bork the system. i can use open office. that creates communication problems which is bad.

bloat is bad.
