For some people "guns" are exciting, but once a soldier and surrounded by guns, the excitement wears off.
Standing guard must be worse even: holding a gun, but never ever getting into a situation where you are allowed to even POINT it to someone (guards are lucky if their base has someone playing checkup-lieutenent: the high-ranking pief who wants to sneak up to the guards "to test if they are still alert".
Those guys make a little game out of this testing: tey give the guard the opportunity to SHOUT, but react fast enough to give the guard a reprimand if he "points" too early.
(Sorry, this was hearsay: I was considered "unfit" for mil service, but another guy who stood watch regularly told me he had ONE such officer, who really liked playing that game. Though HE said the officer was playing a dangerous game, for a "newbie" COULD react too quickly and shoot)
So if standing guard is boring, guns have lost their appeal because you have them, WHY NOT go looking at bikes? Do they stop and watch women too? Do they stop women more often in warm weather / light cover ? |
