| I like the Pentax as it is not just a little less expensive but also it has a higher shutter speed at top end (good for action shots) other significant features to consider are the Multi-segment, Center weighted, and Spot metering which I suspect you can manually select.
The difference in resolution between a 5MP and 6MP would not be significant enough to account for the difference in price. Perhaps the biggest factor for me is, as you pointed out, the memory card. The Pentax uses the standard Securdisk memory card while neither of us has heard of the xD picture card. If you have a standard computer or lap top you'll want something that you can just plug in the card and `bob's your uncle'
Most cameras come with a USB cable but I recommend against using them too much as the camera end tends to have fine pins that are prone to breaking off if not handled with great care.
